Rheemglas 135 litre gas storage tank

Rheem 135 litre Gas Storage Unit

Several days ago, Jim’s Plumbing had a phone call from a customer regarding their hot water unit. The issue was not to do with the systems performance or any issues with the tank itself. The customer had recently purchased a house and was in the process of fixing it up. The system they had onsite, a Rheem 135 litre storage tank, was still in perfect working order.

The customer was however, not happy with how the piping was connected. As the system is inside the house and out in the open, they wanted the pipework to be a more discreet, instead of having excessive pipework around the system.

The customer was at work, but we advised we can get there within the hour. The customer was fine with this as his partner was at home. Our plumber arrived not long after the initial phone call and came out in a fully stocked van so he would have any part required to complete the job. The plumber inspected the water system and its current layout. The bulk of the pipework was done in pvc and was very excessive as it stuck out quite a distance from the hot water unit itself.

The plumber gave a quote to replace all pipework with copper, which will not warp over time and to fit it flush against the system and the wall. Also included was insulation of the pipework so that it would drastically reduce anyone getting burnt by the pipes, as well as preventing heat loss when water is being supplied to the house. The tank itself, despite its age, was in very good condition, probably contributed to the fact the tank was indoors and away from the elements. The plumber said they should still get a number of years out of it before any major issues occur.

Once the work was completed, the customer paid via mobile EFTPOS and was very appreciative of the quick turnaround. They had contacted a few companies prior who seemed disinterested as it was not a large job and turned them away.

There is no job too small for Jim’s fully qualified plumbers. Our plumbers will arrive in a fully stocked van with all the parts and tools necessary to complete any job. In most cases we attend to fix a fault or replace a system, in these rare cases, we can come out just to improve the aesthetics of what is already there.
