Continuous Proxy Valiant Hot Water System

Today we received a phone call from a new customer who had a friend use our services before. She explained that her hot water system was not producing hot water but wasn’t sure why. As our plumber was not far away we were able to have him there within the hour* of the operator taking the call. The customer was very happy to see the plumber not only so quickly but so well dressed in uniform.

The unit was a Proxy Valiant gas hot water system. As the German company who made the Proxy Valiant system has not been in operation in Adelaide since the 1990s, this system could be anywhere between 16 and 26 years old. Unfortunately, the compliance plate on the system had no date information, only some specification on the pressure etc.

The system was in great condition due to being inside and away from the elements like sun, rain wind etc. This type of unit is not normally seen anymore due to the company not trading in Australia anymore, however, all our vans are fully stocked with universal parts to fix most problems in most systems. Once the plumber had a thorough look through the unit he saw the problem was a faulty thermocouple. As soon the problem was identified, the plumber quickly replaced the part needed and placed a sticker on the unit should the customer need to call us in the future.

Due to the age of the system, it may need to be replaced in the near future, so before leaving the home the plumber was able to prove the customer with a free no obligation quote the supply and installation of a new hot water system. Unfortunately, the customer will not be able to have the exact same unit replaced, we will be able to find a like for like replacement with another manufacturer.

The very next day the customer received a phone call from one of our customer service staff as every single one of our customers do to make sure they are 100% happy with the experience they had with our company. During the call, the customer stated she was very happy with the plumber’s ability to work on a system that is not seen anymore and how well he was dressed. She also said she was happy with the ability to pay cash or cheque but was happy to pay with her debit card through the mobile EFTPOS machine which is standard in all our Jims plumbing vans.
