In the early hours this morning, we received a phone call in our call centre from a long-time customer, saying his pilot light kept blowing out and wouldn’t re-light. The customer told our staff that he had used our Jim’s Plumbers on many occasions before to unblock storm water and sewer drains as well as install an oven and dishwasher, so he thought he would call us to help him with his Dux Prodigy hot water system.
The customer could trust our plumbers to get the job done. The customer told us about the problems he had since moving into the house just under a year ago, he said the pilot light was always blowing out but would usually re-light after a few attempts.
As our plumber had a few appointments that afternoon, he was able to arrive at the home at 8 o’clock that morning. The customer was very happy with this as he had to go into meetings at work. Upon inspection, the plumber could see the compliance plate on the hot water system. This gave him some great information that the customer was unsure of.
This Dux Prodigy 135 litre gas hot water system was manufactured in mid-2013 and was model number #135ZN. Upon inspection, the plumber found that the system required a new thermocouple, while this isn’t a common occurrence on this unit, these things do happen from time to time. As our vans a fully stocked at all times it was a quick and easy repair, leaving the customer with having hot water once again.
However the plumber did let the customer know that should the pilot light have problems in the future and if he was not happy with it, we could come back to do a free no obligation quote to supply and install a new hot water system that may be more suitable to his needs and he did not choose the appliance and was there before moving into the property. The customer was thrown by this but glad to know that we offer free quotes for replacement hot water systems.
About 6 months later we received a phone call from the gentleman again that he was still not happy with the unit, so we had a plumber out to the property to provide a free quote to the customer for a replacement hot water system. Once the plumber was at the home, the plumber used his knowledge of hot water systems to help the customer choose another unit.
As the customer felt that he didn’t have the need of a storage tank, fearing it may be costing him more in running cost, he decided to choose a continuous flow hot water unit, this way it would not only save space outside but would save this customer money as he no longer would have the water heated then stored as you do with bulky storage systems.
