Dux 135 Litre Gas Storage System Model #135v-na

Your Local Expert

Jim’s Plumbing received a phone call earlier this week for a customer had an issue with their gas hot water system. They explainde that the pilot light would not stay ignited and they were not able to find the cause to this. They had an appointment to head to now so we organised a time that we could attend and they would be back from their engagements.

A few hours later, as scheduled, our plumber was on their doorstep. The system they had, a DUX 135 litre gas storage unit, was located along the side of the house. The system itself was manufactured in 1998 and was in reasonable condition considering its age. The issues they were having were a pilot light that would not stay ignited, but also that when the hot water is used in the house, the system would dispense all the hot water in the tank, filling the side of the house with steam.

The plumber gave an idea of what needs to be repaired but personally recommended a new unit. At almost 20 years old, the system may only have a little time left before it ceases to function and a new system would be needed. The customer did assume this might be the case and went through some options with the plumber.

They did really like the unit they had as it has been very reliable and supplied more than enough hot water to the household. The plumber worked with their request and elected they go with a newer DUX 135 Litre gas storage unit. The customer agreed, they were just concerned about if they could afford it. Luckily all of our plumbers can perform an eligibility test for our interest free payment plans**, and after the approval came back, the plumber got to work. He removed the old unit from the wall and asked if they wanted him to dispose of it, which they were grateful for.

A few hours later the new system was installed and heating water for the evening. With a certificate of compliance handed over and one happy customer, our plumber left the site neat and tidy with the old tank in the van for disposal. Hot water systems lifespans can vary quite dramatically. In this instance, a 20 year tank is a remarkable time for a storage unit. But regardless of the model, brand, age or size, you can rely on Jim’s Plumbing to give the best advice and the best solution for your hot water needs.
